Though we haven’t had much snow accumulation in Heber Valley yet this year, we do want to remind businesses on Main Street to keep their walks and entry ways free of snow and slush.
While we don’t expect each business owner to be waiting at their door as the first flake falls with shovels in hand, we do hope that within the first couple of hours they’ll clear the walks.
As for each of us... the private citizen, we also need to be diligent in keeping our sidewalks clear of snow.
One of the worst things we’ve seen is a homeowner failing to shovel their sidewalks forcing children into the streets to walk to school. It’s only a matter of time before a child gets hit while walking to school.
We also admonish citizens not to throw snow that the snow plows push into our driveways back out into the street. Clear it out by throwing the snow back onto your yard.
Please remember there are those in our community that may need a little help removing the snow due to hardships they are facing. Let’s all be good neighbors and help each other out where we can.
Since this round of storms have come so late in the season, please be extra diligent of driving cautiously. If the roads are bad, stay home. No activity is worth the cost of a life.
Lastly, when Mother Nature blesses us with fresh powder, please, please, PLEASE don’t venture into the back country to experience it when avalanche danger is high. If you must go, be prepared with emergency gear and avalanche beacons. Once again, no activity is worth the cost of a life.
Get out and enjoy Mother Nature’s bounty, just do it safely.
