Theodore Dean Thomas, 86, passed away Oct. 8, 2013, in the VA Care Center from a long-time illness.

He was born July 29, 1927, in Vernal, to Lloyd Lester and Mary Alice McKee Thomas. He grew up in Oakland, California, until his service in World War II. He married Shirley Oakeson on Sept. 26, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He loved his farm. He loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially loved his wife and family. He served numerous callings in the church. He especially enjoyed serving eight years as ward clerk in the South Jordan 2nd Ward.

He was a great provider for his family, sometimes working three jobs at a time. He was a union carpenter for 30 years, working his way up to General Superintendent, traveling across the country from job site to job site.

He is survived by his wife Shirley; two sons Robert Dean (Sandra) and Mark O. (Annette), and four daughters Kaye (Danny) Hofheins, Jan (Wayne) Heilmann, Julie (Kim) Cummings, and Kelli (Ralph) Trimble; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Lee, Bud, and Ron, and his grandson Joshua Thomas.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan. Interment South Jordan City Cemetery. Online condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
