On the afternoon of Sept. 4, 2013, Robert Jesse Hiatt passed away at his home in Heber City.

He was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Heber City to Bernell and Helen Neeley Hiatt. He married LaRose Hendrix in the Salt Lake Temple and they were blessed with four children: Jim (Kari) Hiatt of Elk Ridge; Brad (Tiffany) Hiatt of Heber City; Kristy (Matt) Colyar of Provo, and Angie (Greg) Welling of Orem.

Robert and LaRose raised their family in Heber City where they learned from his diligent, superb example. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping, riding his four-wheeler and spending time outdoors. As a child, he and his family used to pick chokecherries and he enjoyed taking his children on similar outings. He worked at Wasatch Auto in Heber City for over 30 years. He was a gifted auto mechanic and could fix anything. He was a skilled craftsman and was always working on a project of some kind. He paid meticulous attention to detail in everything he did. He served on the Wasatch School Board from 1982-1994. Robert had a deep love of the Savior and was strong and unwavering in his testimony of Jesus Christ. He served in numerous church callings, including bishop of the Heber 7th Ward.

He is survived by his wife; four children and eight grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Francis of Mesquite, Nevada, and a brother, Dale (Judy) Hiatt of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Hiatt, and brother-in-law, Jim Francis.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 9, at the Heber 7th ward, 244 East 400 South. Interment at Heber City Cemetery. We love him, miss him, and will cherish the memories of the time we spent together.
