She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Woodland, Utah, to Heber and Emily Moon. She and her twin sister Florence were the only girls born in a family of 7 boys. She attended Tabiona High School where she met, fell in love with, and married Ferrin Dean Van Wagoner. Among her many accomplishments, she played saxophone with her sister Florence (they were known as the “Twin Tooters from Tabiona”), she was a member of the singing group “The Choralettes”, served as the state PTA director, reporter and correspondent for the Deseret News. By far her most important accomplishment was her family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities with her favorite being a primary teacher for 30 plus years.
She is survived by her children; Annette (Jay) Casper, Gordon (Kris), Kendall (Pam), Sherilynn (LeeRoy) Farrell, Kerry (Coralee) and Brett (Tamra). 27 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren and her dear friend and neighbor Ki Kiholm. She was preceded in death by her husband Ferrin of 45 years and her second husband Carl Spencer of 20 years; seven brothers; her twin sister, and her granddaughter Kimberly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Sandy, Utah Crescent Park 4th Ward, 10885 Pampas Way (835 E.) at 11 a.m. A viewing will begin 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Midway Cemetery.
